Findlay Prep Coach Todd Simon Set to Join UNLV Staff

SimonUNLV is set to hire Todd Simon as an assistant coach, according to a source with knowledge of the move.

Simon was the head coach at high school powerhouse Findlay Prep in 2012-13, leading the Pilots to a 35-1 record. From 2006-2012 he was an assistant at Findlay, and before that he spent two years as a video coordinator at UNLV under former coach Lon Kruger.

Simon is highly regarded for his ability to bring top-level talent to Findlay Prep ever since the Henderson school opened in 2006. Former Rebel and recent No. 1 overall NBA draft pick Anthony Bennett played for Simon at Findlay, and incoming UNLV freshman Chris Wood is also a Findlay grad.

The move is expected to become official sometime this week, once the hiring is approved through proper university channels. Simon will replace former UNLV assistant Justin Hutson, who left shortly after the season to take a similar job at San Diego State.
