Preseason publications continue to roll out, and the latest to hit the bookshelf at my local supermarket is the Lindy’s Sports college basketball preview magazine, which is relatively high on UNLV’s chances this year.
Lindy’s has UNLV at No. 35 nationally in the preseason rankings and pegs the Rebels for second place in the Mountain West behind New Mexico. The magazine also predicts an NCAA tournament berth for the Rebels.
That seems to be the early consensus for UNLV, as the Sporting News preseason magazine landed in the same ballpark with its predictions.
The Lindy’s content doesn’t appear to be available online, so I won’t excerpt anything from the UNLV section. But in the position-by-position rankings, Bryce Dejean-Jones checks in as the No. 17 small forward in the country, while Khem Birch is listed as the No. 11 power forward (despite the fact that he was a center last year and will play center this year). Mike Moser is the No. 18 power forward, coincidentally.
No Rebels make Lindy’s All-Conference first team, but the mag does tab Birch as the MWC’s Top NBA Prospect.
